Firstly, a warm welcome to all of you have recently subscribed to ALT. SOCIAL. I’m so glad you can view my content here, the way I want you to see it, and with no corporate rules attached. I’m currently not on social media to give myself time to deal with some personal issues, and it’s also a good way to concentrate on ALT. SOCIAL, without the empty noise and distraction of social media.
Just an update regarding the latest stories on ALT. SOCIAL:
Featuring one of my longest term collaborators and a person who ‘gets’ my work and view - Anne Duffy. I talk about my history of working with Anne, right back to even before we did anything together. The images were all shot on film and demonstrate some of my finest works in the area of outdoor film-based portraiture. Many of the images haven’t been seen before, anywhere. There is also a video ‘How Wild the Sea’, which was one of my earliest attempts at video.
BEHIND THE VEIL
Features Sarah (@marzipanned), whom I worked with last Friday. This shoot was something different for Sarah, as she wanted to develop her portrait-based modelling. I talk about that, and what a model has to ‘let go’ of to do it. I always have the utmost respect for any model who can do this. There are four images, which are a preview of what is to come as I still haven’t finished processing the film.
FEAR & LOATHING IN WOLLONGONG
This forthcoming PDF online e-Zine (which I’m working on now) features Bee, a model from Wollongong. This is an erotic set and not for those who aren’t OK with viewing explicit images of a woman. I shot it in what I feel to be an artistic way, and mostly on MF film. I’ve done many erotic shoots, erotic being defined for me as ‘sensual’, as opposed to ‘artistic nude’ or ‘figure nude’ where there needs to be no emphasis on sexual qualities or desire. Most so called ‘art nude’ is erotica as far as I can see. But, this shoot was different to those previous erotic shoots, in terms of the explicit nature of the photographs. The e-Zine will be for sale in my online store and is the third mag available there. I asked Bee to write something about the set too, I didn’t give her any clues on what to write and what she came up with complements the set perfectly.
